Health Services of Lyon County contracts with public and parochial schools within Lyon County to provide direct classroom education, screenings, and coordination of health care plans on students with chronic illness and to serve as a consultant on health care issues.

Within the school setting, we provide immunization audits and health education programs, as well as the school nurse offering fluoride rinses for the children as needed.

The goal of the immunization program is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases by working in conjunction with the public and private health care providers throughout the state. Accomplishing this goal will require achieving and maintaining higher vaccination coverage levels, improving vaccination strategies among under vaccinated populations, prompt reporting and thorough investigation of suspected cases, and rapid institution of disease control measures.

Health Services of Lyon County currently offers vaccines to children who meet the qualifications of the VFC (Vaccine for Children) program and has the ability to bill the following insurance carriers: Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, HAWK-I (United Health Care and AmeriHealth Caritas), and the following state health insurance plans: United Health Care, AmeriHealth Caritas and AmeriGroup.

The homemaker program place trained and supervised aides in the home of families and/or adults for a temporary or extended period of time based on desired plan of care. Components of this service include: personal care, medication supervision, meal preparation, limited housekeeping, essential shopping, meal and respite care.
